Wart Treatment

Warts are incredibly common and can be found on any part of your body. They can be annoying and painful, and most commonly grow on your hands and feet. The doctors at the UHC can treat your warts easily with liquid nitrogen. Contact our clinic to book an appointment to get your warts treated.

There are five different types of warts:

  • Common warts grow most commonly on your fingers and toes
  • Plantar warts grow on the soles of your feet
  • Flat warts grow on your face, thighs, or arms
  • Filiform warts grow around your mouth or nose
  • Periungual warts grow under and around your toenails and fingernails.
  • Genital warts grow on your genitals.

Sometimes warts can be treated at home, through over-the-counter topical treatments. Other times warts need to be treated by physicians or may require surgery. If a wart is on your face or another sensitive area (genitals, mouth, nose), it is bleeding or infected, painful, or has changed colour, do not treat it yourself. Come in to see a physician.

How to prevent warts:

  • If you are in contact with someone else’s warts make sure to wash your hands.
  • Don’t pick at your warts.
  • Cover warts with bandages.
  • Keep your hands and feet dry.
  • Wear shower shoes (flip-flops) when in a locker room or communal bathing facility.
