The Faculty of Arts seeks out international students who can bring their unique perspectives to our classrooms. We are at the forefront of providing international opportunities to our students, both at home and abroad. Students can choose from hundreds of courses in the humanities, social sciences, fine arts and unique interdisciplinary concentrations. We also offer:
- over 320 professors teaching in 15 departments, as well as an Office of Interdisciplinary Studies.
- more than 40 programs/majors, including new and innovative programs such as our certificates in Globalization and Governance, Peace and Post-Conflict Studies, Translation Studies and Middle Eastern and African Studies.
- the leading practical theatre training program in Canada.
- a satellite campus in Cortona, Italy where our students study with U of A professors teaching unique courses related to Tuscan and Italian society and history. As part of the program, students participate in archaeological digs, take field trips to Venice, Rome and Pompeii, and best of all, earn credit towards their degrees while having the experience of a lifetime.
Now, more than ever, the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta is the place to be, not only for international students but also for those interested in an international experience. In fact, the London Times has listed the U of A in its "Top 200" rankings, and Newsweek magazine has listed us as one of the top 100 Global universities in the world, an honor bestowed on only six Canadian universities.
