Andrea Graham, Senior Officer, Communications, Strategies and Facilities
Education & Career Highlights:
BA (Honours) Psychology, University of Alberta
MA, Journalism, University of Western Ontario
I’ve enjoyed a long and wonderful career with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation working both in Edmonton and Calgary. My 23-year career included producing and directing daily radio shows, leading the radio news room and shepherding multi-media projects which included election specials and public forums. My favourite moments include bungee jumping at West Edmonton Mall, talking to Ray Bradbury, producing a cookbook to benefit Edmonton’s Food Bank and travelling across Canada (10 provinces and one territory).
I joined the Faculty of Arts Communications team on October 1st 2013 which brought me back to my stomping grounds of my early twenties.
Our number one goal is to tell the Arts story to as many people as possible. It’s about sharing the great work and experience of our teachers, researchers and students. Although our reach is global, we are proud to call Edmonton home.
Personal Interests & Hobbies:
I love dining out, cooking and reading cookbooks which might explain why I own more than 80 of them. Physical fitness is important to me so I walk almost 20 kilometers every weekend and in the winter you will find me cross country skiing. Keeping active is the best way I know to feel like you’ve “earned” that glass of wine at the end of the day or week.
Favorite TV shows/movies:
My all time classic – All About Eve starring Bette Davis. I grew up watching Gilligan’s Island and Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Now I’ll watch everything from Once Upon A Time to Game of Thrones.
Favourite Musical Artists:
Dave Brubeck for Jazz and Pink for fun.
