Marketing and Communications

Marketing and Communications (MarComm) encompasses a full range of public relations, communications and marketing activities aimed at promoting university people, programs and impacts. With a staff of 19 professionals that includes communications associates, marketing professionals, an editor, designers and a photographer, the unit:

  • develops and implements the university’s comprehensive institutional communications plan and crisis communications plan, and provides strategic communications advice to senior leadership
  • profiles the university through media relations, placing stories in a variety of regional, provincial, national and international media channels
  • plans and produces stories and multimedia (photography, graphics, video) content for UAlberta News and social media accounts in alignment with a strategic content calendar
  • develops strategy for and manages all UAlberta social media accounts
  • develops and maintains visual identity standards, licensing and trademarks, and a roster of preferred vendors for design, photography, video and advertising work
  • provides media relations training and support across campus, including specific support to the president’s and provost’s offices
  • provides photography services to the campus
