(Edmonton) Avenue Edmonton magazine has named physicist Craig Heinke one of the top 40 Edmontonians under the age of 40 who not only excel in their careers, but also give back to the community and raise the profile of the city.

Asked why Heinke was a good choice, Avenue Edmonton editor Steve Sandor replied:

"Craig wasn't a good choice, but an exceptional one. He has brought international attention to Edmonton and the U of A through his work. To have a physicist here who is collaborating with NASA, who develops a major international reputation, is a real coup for the city, and deserves to be saluted. We were honoured to include Craig in our 2012 class of Top 40 Under 40. He truly does reach for the stars."

Heinke joined the University of Alberta in 2008 and holds the position of Associate Professor with the Department of Physics.
