Ethics Online Training Suite

The Ethics Online Training Suite is available to students who started their academic programs prior to September 2022 and require complementary sessions to the GET Course to meet the Ethics and Academic Integrity requirement.  These sessions are not required for students who have completed INTD 710 and INTD 720 (Doctoral students). For your records, a certificate is generated upon completion of the course.

Courses:

Understanding and Avoiding Plagiarism | Self-Enrol
Academic Integrity and Research Ethics Training Credit: 2 hours with departmental approval
This course will help you better understand the issue of academic integrity with specific attention given to plagiarism. You will deepen your understanding of plagiarism and why it happens. You will learn about the different types of plagiarism, develop strategies for avoiding plagiarism, and will learn about how to to avoid it. Examples are provided in each module, which will educate you on the various types of plagiarism and test your understanding of plagiarism. The knowledge you develop in this course will strengthen your research and writing habits, help you avoid plagiarism in your own work, and will build your confidence as an academic writer.

 

Academic and Research Integrity | Self-Enrol
Academic Integrity and Research Ethics Training Credit: 1 hour with departmental approval
This course explores academic integrity issues in the graduate student setting. You will learn about academic integrity, research integrity, academic dishonesty and research misconduct. You will have the opportunity to explore examples and animated case studies, which will test your knowledge. Finally, you will explores ethics approval, data retention, record keeping and negotiating authorship

Intellectual Property: An Entrepreneur's Guide | Self-Enrol
Academic Integrity and Research Ethics Training Credit: 1 hour with departmental approval
This course offers an introduction to intellectual property. You will learn basic definitions and will explore types of intellectual property, including: trademarks, patents, trade secrets, and copyrights. This course will help graduate students, entrepreneurs and/or inventors to use their knowledge to make strategic decisions about the application for intellectual property protection. Topics you will explore in this course include: how to file for various types of intellectual property; how to determine if you have intellectual property; and, what rights do intellectual properties give a society, company and inventor?
