What is your role at the GSSMC?

Consulting physiatrist and sport medicine consultant



Do you hold any positions outside the clinic?

I am an associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the U of A. I also work at HealthPointe Medical Centre, a multidisciplinary musculoskeletal clinic specializing in chronic injury.



What is your clinical speciality?

My clinical specialties are sports, spine, acute and chronic musculoskeletal injury. I am an advocate for the multidisciplinary model of treatment.



What did you study and where?

I received a medical degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1999. In 2004, I completed my Royal College specialty training in physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatry). In 2005, I completed a fellowship in sport medicine, and trained to do X-ray guided spine and joint injections.



Do you have any specific research interests & publications?

My academic interests include undergraduate and resident teaching, and collaborative research in concussion

Monday afternoons

 

What is your favourite way to stay active?

I stay active in the summer on the lake at our family cabin and I love going to the gym!
